The Museum of Art and Design and MDC Special Collections are housed in the MDC Freedom Tower at 600 Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami, directly across from American Airlines Arena between NE Sixth and NE Seventh streets.


Paid self-parking is available in several public and private lots near the museum, in addition to metered street parking. Rates vary depending on events scheduled at the Arena.

The Museum and Freedom Tower are served by a Miami-Dade Metromover station behind the Tower on NE Second Avenue. Take the Omni Loop train to Freedom Tower station and walk one block east to the Tower entrance. Visit Miami-Dade Transit to view a full map of stations and information.


Several bus routes serve the Freedom Tower. Visit Miami-Dade Transit to view bus schedules, connections and transit directions.

Miami Trolley

The Biscayne and Coral Way trolley routes stop at the Freedom Tower. Visit Miami Trolley for a full list of route maps and information.

Alternative transportation

Citi Bike solar-powered bikes are available for rent at a network of docking stations around the city,. One of these stations is on the southwest corner of NE Sixth Street and Biscayne Boulevard, just a few steps from the Freedom Tower's entrance.

Taxis, ridesharing

Taxis, Uber and Lyft may drop passengers at the main entrance of the museum.


An ADA accessible entrance to the Freedom Tower is available on the north side of Sixth Street next to the Miami Trolley stop. Contact Visitor Services at 305-237-7700 with any special requests.
